About

History

What started as the Portsmouth Country Club in the early 1900’s, the Woman’s Club of Portsmouth has hosted hundreds of wedding receptions, parties, fundraisers, and community events over the past century.

In 2011, the Portsmouth Service League, a nonprofit volunteer organization, took ownership of the building and completed a capital campaign to raise funds to renovate the beautiful Portsmouth icon.

Currently, in addition to being the premiere wedding destination in Portsmouth, the League provides opportunities for local non profits to utilize the space to further their missions. Profits from the rental of the Woman’s Club are donated to the League and distributed  through grants to other nonprofit organizations and community projects throughout Hampton Roads. The success of this partnership has allowed the League to expand its philanthropy and impact within the community.
